I think it's more complicated than that.
Take the American flag for example, to some people it's a symbol of unity and freedom, to others it's oppression, slavery, war and imperialism.
Similar thing with pride (these days, not like when we were younger)
To some it's celebrating gay people who've been discriminated against (and still happens), to others it's pushing to accept and idea that you can change genders, men can compete against women in sports, and children being sexually castrated.
I'm noticing that the anti-pride sentiment is growing relative to just like 5-6 years ago, and I don't think it's because people are upset about celebrating gay people. I think it's because it sort of is asking you to do a bunch of doublethink around genders.
