We tend to name our livestock whimsically, or with future aspirations in mind. The dairy cow is Milkdud, former beef cattle were Holy, Moly, Guac and Whopper, and two of the former roosters were General Tso and Potpie.
Naming an animal you intend to kill is a boss move.
