One of the things that is very different, this time, over the last npub change from nostr:npub1qfkcklnmes45z75y7y8dkud5yll8vp5eq5ysk9rmgqdxeasv8unsrfj6kq is that we have private relays and WoT, so some people just think I changed my profile data because they still see me at the same rate.

Last time, I literally disappeared into the void for months.

Relay community win, IMO.

How did you do this?

I write only to private relays and both npubs were whitelisted on them and had followers.

Did you transfered your followers from one npub to another without them signing anything?

No, and they have hardly transferred themselves. My follows literally went from 5000 to 50. That wasn't an exagerration.

Followers, I mean. Lost nearly all of them.

Aah, that makes more sense... People like me make the figures worse then because I'm a new follower who didn't realize there was a previous NPUB 🤣

I think I actually have more new followers than old ones, already.

Are you still active on the old one? Maybe people just kept following that one 🤷🏾‍♂️

Nah, barely use it.

Maybe put the new npub in the bio of the old npub. You can catch a few followers of the old one like this

I like how Jay did it. On top of that, he put in the old username (old npub) at the end of it and (new npub) at the end of the new username.

This is actually my old dev npub, so it's less of a direct switch.

I thought you wanted old followers to follow you again? Or you were just looking at the different experiences between the two

Some of them were actually already following this one because it's the one that I use for git stuff.

I wanted to give people the active choice to follow me. I was increasingly being followed by people that don't like me.

And it's a bit of an experiment. Nostr is different, when you're a nobody.

You know what I mean? People were starting to follow me because other people follow me, so my mentions were increasingly people bitching about me.

Or people would just respond to "be seen" and not out of personal interest.

They answer just to be seen? People have time to waste

Also following someone because you dont like them is weird. What’s the point? Like trolls you mean?

Sort of. People feel social pressure to follow well-known personas, but it grates on them, so they whine.

And lots of people just go down the trending list every day and leave a comment on each one. If they don't like you, they leave a nasty comment.

I dont understand that way of thinking

Me neither. I'm equally nasty and nice to everyone.

Good idea.

Although, it's been kinda nice talking to some newbies. It feels like I get more comments from people I don't know, now that they know there aren't 10k people watching the convo.

I think I was sort of intimidating, but I'm just another #smolnpub, now.

Now that I'm not trending, the influencers and trolls don't see my posts. They used to just show up, jump in without reading the thread, and trash the place.

Now, it's not worth it to them.

Seeing some reply guys in this thread because some of you write to poorly-managed relays.
