from tenor.com open thw gif in a new tab, copy the url of that new page when it finishes with .gif and then paste that into the note.
hopefully this will change soon.
otherwise use clients with gif working like "freerse"
Or use a keyboard with gifs built in. IE SwiftKey works on amethyst
