I used to look down upon ppl who wouldn’t be able to speak/write “English properly”. Maybe look down upon is a harsh way to put it, but it would form a bias in my head for sure when I’d hear improper grammar.

Then I started learning a new language.

Now, more than constantly feeling stupid when I blabber incoherently with grammar (among almost everything else), I feel stupidly embarrassed for my erstwhile self.

And accent? Don’t even get me started on that. Another example of human trait of feeling superior with their limited experience.
