One of the giants at Montgomery Woods that fell and needed to be bucked to clear the way. I am all for protecting these trees but I feel leaving it here to rot is a huge waste of its life.

Some much beauty in this fallen giant could serve humanity. The value of this timber is massive and it could repair and pay for many improvements in this park that need to be made. Despite stealing billions annually in taxes California can't even do basic upkeep on its state parks.

California is honestly a beautiful state and we have met nothing but wonderful people on this trip. The government though clearly has no clue about forest management. I walk around and all I see is that huge wildfires are going to be common in this state for a long time.

Here’s some pictures from when I hiked to Weaver Lake in the Sequoia National Forest in 2019. The forest is “managed by the state of California” as noted on the sign at the entrance to the park. There was cut timber everywhere. I could could even see some plastic wedges left behind in a standing dead tree. The pictures cover the few mile hike and are in different locations. I included a picture of the lake to verify location. That place is so gonna burn down one day.
