Well, actually, you’ve gotta start with that one. The point is to be free of all authority. We love our mothers, but we’re not our mothers. We’re not here to make their mistakes.

Teenage does that, it makes us despise or hate or distance (in the best of scenarios) from everything our parents and mothers represent, in order to build up our own Self. Later we recognize that we still have stuff to learn from our mother and hopefully she is still there to teach us.
It’s a natural process
