Yes, I believe so, but not all clients do if I recall correctly.

Long-form yes, short-form no. There was a long debate about it back in the day. Different clients have different opinions I guess.

Short is kind 1, long is kind 30023.

Markdown support came after so it got its own kind if I recall correctly 🤷

What's a good client for it? I'm on Amethyst.
