Not everyone needs a podcast. We need to get a grip on the podcasts. Just because you have the vague ability to formulate words and put them together into sentences doesn’t mean you should be starting your own podcast. There’s no reason for 98% of the people who have podcasts to have podcasts. Podcasts have become like visual diaries for self-satisfied gasbags to talk to themselves imo.
I'd like to add a little something to this. Whatever happened to the days when podcasts were completely commercial free, mostly created by amateurs and didn't have a set length or schedule. They were distributed through RSS feeds, so when you got it it was a surprise.
Nowadays, most podcasts are not what I would call podcasts. I would simply call them radio shows without the radio. In some cases they have video too so they're really just TV shows over the Internet
I miss the '90s
What gets me is men consider this work
We need more podcasts. Everyone should have one. Decentralization.
"We need to get a grip on the podcasts" is not a take I'd expect to hear on Nostr, but I guess there's a first time for everything.
