Hello and welcome, Nostr is so much more than a “platform” once you play around with it… you are interacting at the protocol level so you can take your posts, follows, and followers with you to many different platforms whether blogs, social media, marketplaces, streaming, and more everyday thanks to the amazing developers adding to nostr everyday.
Absolutely no clue how to use this platform so I'm leaving this here and going to bed. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the morning.

Thank you. I don't quite understand how to do this. I'm trying to limit time on Instagram etc. Prefer long form, community, learning, etc.

Easiest way that I’ve found is just to play with it, try out different apps… Nostr is still in its infancy and really is still in beta phase or sandbox new features and applications are coming out all the time, if you see something that you feel should be fixed or a new feature you’d like to see, post about it, maybe tag the application you are using to access the nostrverse (primal, damus, etc.) and maybe one of the developers will see it and make it happen. One thing that I can tell you is that unlike the legacy social media and internet, even if you are not a techie person, the actual shapers of this new internet are very easy going, understanding, and want to help; also most of the people that have made nostr a home are the same. Don’t be afraid to follow strangers, comment on notes, or create content. Just find people creating cool stuff and follow that. #grownostr is a great starting place for everything that is not bitcoin related content.
