Some intransigent minority pressured some organizational body to call this day "women's day", just like we have earth day, tree day, equity day, social day and tons of other days (way more than 365 BTW)
I thought so. I still wonder why we humans consider such things necessary.

I doubt they do. Very few very loud people are usually enough to create such a tag. After all "it costs nothing and has no downside, so why not?"
So it is a "non-event" and rather a small nice attention but rather trivial.
