A message from our school’s technology director… making me continue to question our public school system and the negative effects of social media on children…
“I want to make you aware of and share information regarding a new concerning social media trend that involved students intentionally attempting to short-circuit their Chromebook, which can and in some cases has led to Chromebooks catching fire. Students are doing this by inserting conductive items such as paper clips, graphite from pencils, gum wrappers, and other metal objects into one of the ports on the side of the Chromebook, usually the USB port. This causes the Chromebook to spark, smoke, stop working, or even catch fire, posing a significant safety hazard. “
Hmm… it does sound a bit more exciting than memorizing the quadratic formula… but something is wrong here…
