Not sure what you’re trying to say here but I know you know what I am referring to.

Yes, but not really... You call "them" out as hobbyists and exclude yourself, but I was under the impression that you took an interest in the technology, or at least the music?

Marshall McLuhan said "experts" are people who don't change. Experts can't be the innovators because they have a fixed point of view.

An "expert" is also a relative term though. However I really love McLuhan's ideas.

I would argue the hobbyists, or the amateurs as I prefer to call them, are often times better. They're doing it out of love. One who does something because they simply enjoy the task are able to bring a creativity that one isn't able to bring when a paycheck is on the line.
