but it would appear Luke wants to replace Bitcoin Core with Bitcoin Knots ??

This looks reasonable to me.

Even though I think this drama is largely fueled by social media outrage algorithms, there does appear to be some non-trivial segment of users that wants to keep these configureable options. Just let them have it?

I think nostr:npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nkâs raison dâĂȘtre for Bitcoin Knots has always been that it should (or at least could) one day become Bitcoinâs reference implementation.
Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know knots is a patched version of core?
Bitcoin Knots is a fork of Bitcoin Core yes, but that does not mean it canât one day itself become Bitcoinâs reference implementation.
(There is no strict or official definition for what is Bitcoinâs reference implementation, but if most of the Bitcoin economy switches to Knots that would go a long way to de facto making it so.)
Indeed. Sovereignty.
Everyone gets to pick for themselves.
