I tried fighting them for years and found that it didn't make much difference. I think the best thing to do is make sure your plants & trees are as healthy as you can get them so they can fight back against the pests. it is my understanding that healthy plants aren't as attractive to pests. the thing to be careful of is whatever you might use to kill the beetles can harm the beneficial insects. that's counter-productive.
