No, gifs used to work fine and then with one of the recent builds something happened and they stopped playing. Must have made it into the current App Store version. The new TestFlight version last night fixed it, so I assume the next App Store update will be fixed to.

It’s not animated in my Damus but it is when I open it in a browser. Damus has a file size limit on profile pics so it might just be over that limit.
