Twice. I put everything together, tamper sealed it, got a cup of coffee and ran a drill on myself. Then I made my spouse do it too. It worked, no need to create additional vulnerabilities by pulling it out all the time.
Ran a drill through yourself? Now that's really considering the edge cases. I can't say for sure I'd be able to recover my keys if I run a drill through my head so hopefully that doesn't happen.
Yes, as my cranial matter leaked onto the carpet I passed on my final words to my spouse, "hodl you fool!"
Nice try fbi
Do you really need to check it, if the seed words are stamped in a steely thing and the thing is sitting in the same location ever since? Be honest.
When you set the wallet up did you test recovering into another device/wallet?
What about if you're using a passphrase? Is that stamped into steel? Is it where you think it is?
Using multisig? Are your configuration file(s) secure? Are they digital? Have you checked they still work?
Lots of levels to this. Each one specific to your setup.
There is no reason to check your setup over and over again IF you have set up a wallet or quorum and everything worked, was backed up, the backup was tested and nothing got lost on the way.
But yeah, in general I totally agree with your initial note and want to thank you for all your educational content you have produced and keep up to date. π
I need to do this on my Coldcard π«‘
Probably the most important time to check backup is right away before adding substantial funds.
I think this step gets commonly overlooked.
Am waiting for my second CC now, intend to use that to test my backup and have it as an additional backup.
