In today’s digital age, freedom of speech is a fundamental right that we must fiercely protect. However, the rise of social media companies has introduced a new dynamic that challenges this freedom. These platforms, while providing a space for expression, also wield significant control over what we see, share, and say.

Social media companies have algorithms that curate our feeds, often prioritizing content that generates the most engagement. This can create echo chambers, limiting exposure to diverse viewpoints and reinforcing existing biases. Moreover, these companies have the power to censor content, sometimes arbitrarily, which can stifle important conversations and dissenting opinions.

The control exerted by social media companies over our digital lives raises critical questions about privacy, autonomy, and the true extent of our freedom of speech. It’s essential to remain vigilant and advocate for transparency and accountability from these platforms.

We must ensure that our voices are not just heard, but also respected and valued.

It's why I support decentralised social media platforms based on the various protocols that exist today (AT, ActivityPub, Nostr).
