Wouldn't slaves be more useful alive than dead? Off a small number, then use the propaganda as a threat to keep the slaves in line? Have them do the really crappy and dangerous tasks because they are expendable?

There are a huge number of issues with the official story, which is why we are indoctrinated never to question it.
Jews were killed, of course, but I believe the events before, during and after were greatly exaggerated in order to further a larger agenda. There is certainly some truth to what Assad is saying here, in my opinion. The state *was* founded soon after the war ended. Hitler likely grew old in South America. Rich families and interests heavily profited from the war, as they always have done. The Nuremberg trials were largely a show. These same people started NATO and the EU.
All nazis were bad, except the nazi scientists the US brought over to head the NASA program. Don't question who built the railways, who provided uniforms, who built engines for the tanks and who supplied munitions to both sides.
Powerful interests taking control of the narrative, protecting their wealth and power, and taking away the freedoms of the common man.
