Which new app did you recently use?
Is that usually the culprit? Tough to say...usually when people mention new apps I tap them to see what they look like, but haven't really used any. flare.pub was one I clicked on for like 15 seconds recently 🤷♂️
Its not uncommon when using your keys with new nostr apps this happens.
Try using this to restore: https://metadata.nostr.com/
It seems to be “newer” clients. nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5 is it because a specific NIP is missing or any general ideas.
Hist.nostr.land as a relay for a back up
If you ever change clients (login to another one) all your relays will change, etc., and your follows will thus change. I had this happen many times until I just decided to create different accounts on each client.😉

type your Pubkey into nostr.band that's the best way to know the true number. clients don't grab everyone from every relay consistently
