I've only tried three of these soaps:

1. Van Der Hagen

2. Colonel Conk

3. Williams Mug Soap

The first two are excellent. I can always find Van Der Hagen at Walmart, and it does the job well. Colonel Conk is a little more expensive (I buy it on Amazon) but has some awesome scents, and lathers up quickly and produces a slick layer of protection.

Williams Mug Soap? Smells awesomely manly, but I say it's the WORST lather ever made! I don't see how this article calls it the "best lather." I get nothing but thin lather full of air bubbles. It's more of a watered-down meringue than a creamy texture. Causes trauma to my face.
