Scrolling media content is why those platforms take off, it's the UX, the content can be ass, but it's being delivered in a means that promotes it well.

It can be ass I agree but I also wonder how many people who rag on those platforms actually spend any considerable amount of time on them. I had exact same feelings about TikTok until I spent time on it and discovered same of better content than on Twitter but in a more compact and engaging format. I know it can be shocking to people to know that exists but itโs there. I am not defending mind-melting dance videos ๐ I think a lot of harm comes from a lot of that content but we still have to acknowledge that younger generations prefer video to text and they will keep seeking out continent on those platforms until they age and grow into people like us - who read stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I like videos too. I just don't find much good content out there in that format. The things my kids watched is pure drivel. You videos and make up videos, all with screaming and noises. The people they used to idolize were horrible. Which is why they no longer are allowed to use those platforms ๐
