The skill, time, and talent/personality employed to create artistic expressions are valuable, and their supply cannot be easily reproduced/replicated even though the individual manifestations of them (the works of art) can be. This is, ultimately, what creators must figure out how to monetize if they are to make their work economically sustainable.

This is a good thought experiment and/or a a question to hold and let it rattle around.

I am thinking that I will have to publish a book to make any fiat$ or BTC. There's just no way to monetize poetry without paywalling it. Poetry and Zen commentary is already niche enough that a paywall makes it unworkable.

Another idea is to teach/offer a course.

the timeless problem poets face :)

it’s why poetry is historically performance, I suppose

somewhat but even then it is niche. I had a conversation with a US Jazz Singer last summer by accident in a café. we laughed about a poetry reading of haiku. it's just silly. 🤣

even teaching poetry is difficult. it's not 5 7 5, it's not iambic pentameter , it's not rhyming. it is a presentation of Mind and is only possible to be understood Mind to Mind outside of words and ideas. Anyone can write a 3liner. a haiku is not a 3 liner, it must turn around a point or unexpected turn.

upside, unlike other art forms, you get to keep your work and share it too 🤗

always think of Wisława Szymborska who published like 300 poems in her lifetime? what a master, but yeah, making a life that way is as much an art as the art itself
