Any home miners who intermittently plug in run into this?

Antminer S9 with Braiins OS+ firmware. Usually plug in at night and unplug when I’m gone at work, no issues over past year.

Was gone last week and now can’t connect to the miner. IP address is correct and router status says online via Ethernet. Even have the green normal flashing but IP address in my browser (tried 3) says unreachable…so can’t configure or see the miner, or connect to a pool.

Any suggestions?

I'd guess that your DHCP address expired while it was offline and another device snagged the address.

It's probably using a different address. Look in your router DHCP leases for a new IP that it's using perhaps.

Also in your router configuration, assign the S9s MAC address a static reservation so this never happens again.

Hmm did all that with no luck. Weird yeah same IP, was even able to successfully ping it. Weird thing is when I first plugged in got like 2TH/s hash rate in the pool and was online, then dropped to zero.

Trying to reach the IP either says can’t connect, or taking too long to respond.

Maybe will restart the router and S9 and try again later. Thank you for your wisdom!

broaden IP range perhaps? can check with Angry IP Scanner. perhaps close and reopen braiins toolbox to connect

Will try - thank you!

You can use BTC Tools to identify the miner's IP

If thatbdoesnt work, I've run into an issue where I have the right IP but it still won't connect. I just hit the reset button on the miner (use one of those sim card removers). Have to set up credentials and pools again but it works after.

Will try this - thank you!

Good luck!

I haven’t mined since the 21.co days. I think that was 2016. Some VC funded flop.

I've found miners don't like being unused for long periods, especially when idle for the whole summer . I think they get damp inside and have found drying them with a hair dryer for 20 mins has a 50 / 50 chance of bringing them back to life.

Great to know thank you!
