All Louisiana law is french-based. Texas was a foreign country before joining. Puerto Rico may become a state.

I think the point is that trade subsidy between Canada/US is greater than the biggest US state receives from its fed govt.

US taxpayers finance this subsidy through deficit spending and inflation, so they want a stronger union for the cost or to not have to spend such a large subsidy on a foreign country.

I don't think anyone wants to erase Canadian cultures and I don't think Canadians want to sever economically from the US.

Its like when your girlfriend says she doesn't want to be fucked anymore if you're not going to marry her.

Canada won’t be that committed. What can Trump do though? I know about economic pressure. But some joke about invading. Slim chance.

Nah there won't be invasion, don't worry about that at all. Thats counterproductive to everyone's interests.
