Just checking out Obsidian because I haven't heard of it before.
Any particular shortcomings you wish it had?
Comparing to Evernote, price comparison is an obvious benefit - free for personal use while EN subscription is > $100. Also EN feels bloated and they just dropped Linux native beta support.
To open source it lol!
The plugins are open source, but not the app itself. It is not a huge problem because in the end you are writing and organising MD files.
You could subscribe to enable sync and pre releases, but that isn't a thing for me. I simply backup the folder by zipping it and throwing it on some usb stick every now and then.
Linking stuff and embedding pieces of other docs is very nice! I don't have to repeat a checklist or a paragraph, if I need them in more places. I just ![[file-name#header]].
