Today marks 17 years since Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin Whitepaper — introducing a peer-to-peer electronic cash system with no trusted parties, built on proof-of-work from nostr:nprofile1qqsqyredyxhqn0e4ln0mvh0v79rchpr0taeg4vcvt64te4kssx5pc0smkyggq' Hashcash.

This idea changed money forever.

See a recreation of the moment Satoshi reached out to nostr:nprofile1qqsqyredyxhqn0e4ln0mvh0v79rchpr0taeg4vcvt64te4kssx5pc0smkyggq about Hashcash to cite in the Bitcoin whitepaper, an email exchange that helped lay the foundation for proof-of-work and the entire Bitcoin network.

Hashcash was cool, but thanks also to Moni Naor and Cynthia Dwork for coming up with the concept of ‘Proof of Work,’ originally called ‘Pricing via Processing,’ in the 90's.
