I listen to music and podcasts on youtube. No more. I can't watch even one video longer than 5min withou having to watch 2 or 3 ads. Any recommendations of other platforms to use? I just need to get access to a lot of music and podcasts, that's it. Adblocks don't work on youtube anymore

I am using fountain.fm for the podcasts that are there

Brave can't block the ads?

Invidious can definitely block the ads, just kinda slow to get videos started sometimes

The best YouTube alternatives I know right now are nostr and odysee which are both not really good yet

Was just complaining about this yesterday. Brave was recommended but I couldn't sign into YouTube without a phone number so didn't try it yet.

Also, apparently you can get up to six people on a family plan. No need to share master account info either apparently, so might be reasonable to do if you can coordinate a small group to pay one person regularly.

I don't sign in with brave

I use another browser to upload YouTube videos and post comments and stuff but eventually I plan to burn my Google login and never go back

Can that nostr web commenting extension be used to comment on YouTube videos? Force has to be focused on giving nostr momentum to replace YouTube

YouTube site wouldn't let me sign in with just email and password with the account, and was demanding phone. YouTube is pretty annoying with how it works when not signed in, and while I know there are ways to spoof a number for this type of thing, I didn't bother with it yet and lost interest for now

Oh, and I haven't tried the Lantern commenting ap on it yet, but can't see why it wouldn't work. It's exactly the type of place I'd love to see it used more. Make comments great again!

I might try it. Could help show video creators they need to diversify to an npub

Not sure, but might have to use Chrome for it to work at this time. It's only browser I've tried it with anyway

Hm. I don't know if Chrome even supports extensions on mobile. Maybe not usable for me since I don't tend to have Chrome on non phone devices

I could be wrong, just what I did so assume it at least didn't work with safari or id have likely included extension there (on a Mac).

On mobile I use Tubular for watching YouTube without ads. It also allows you to listen to the video with the screen off, which can be very handy for video podcasts.

For podcasts I am using Fountain.

For music, I use RiMusic.

All of the above are available in the nostr:npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8

Alas, if you are on iOS, the only one of these that is available is Fountain.
