What's the best budget (sim-only) android phone, new not refurb you can get atm? WIth priorities of longevity, battery life.

Like around let's say around £200.

I see there this Nothing phone people seem to recommend online, seems to be a spinoff of OnePlus, has Nothing OS (on top of android or something?), but people warn it only has a guarantee of 2 years of updates.

I've had my phone for like 5 years, and it's finally playing up:(

trying my reddit type question on #asknostr lol ;)

I cannot whole heartedly recommend any android phone other than Google, since they're the only OEM I know that don't skimp out on the monthly and quarterly android updates, every other manufacturer including Samsung will not reliably get these updates meaning less security.

pixel 7a

seems to be highly recommended but also £329 new :/

why new? buy a used onde ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bad experiences with them, basically buying a 2nd hand phone, so less time on their longevity clock

it's been 15 years since I've last bought a new one :3

you've had the same phone for 15 years??? or you haven't bought a new one in 15 years? how many phone shave you got through in those 15 years if so? :)

I've had about 7 or 8 since then, all refurbished, ser. four atm: an old Samsung hotspot, a xiaomi note 12 pro for errands, a pixel 7a for general purposes and a 8 pro for conspiracies :3

you have FOUR phones on the go at the same time????

what is wrong with you? lol:)

lmao, narcos and moraes are wrong with me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm keeping an eye on you too now. I've seen City of God.

it's actually more like elite squad lol

maybe i'll see how long my current phone can hold out and see if that pixel 7a turns up on a black friday sale in november. But nothing you want actually gets listed on black friday deals, in my experience

I like to have a phone for about 5 years or something, so 2nd hand ones. I had a pocophone for flipping ages and ages. I should look at what xiaomi are up to nowadays, although I think they put their prices up :(

what is sim-only?

like not on a monthly deal, you buy the phone outright

SIM-free is what you're looking for when you search🫂

just get refurb iphone12, youll be able to use nostur and damus 😉 and you wont look poor lol

Noooooo

No grayjay on that lol

One of the mid-tier Samsung galaxy A-series.

Any in particular you would recommend? Or just all/any A series?

Depends.

I don't need anything fancy, I don't even mind an average/bad camera. My criteria is longevity and battery life.
