On my way back to Aotearoa New Zealand I stopped off for a couple of days in Melbourne. The hotel had loaner bikes and I spent an afternoon exploring. What wonderful infrastructure.

I’m reminded of this when I saw this clickbait piece on bad cycle lanes… oh my… they’re so bad it’s fun to see the pictures.

In Wellington right now there’s a whole political faction on city council whose only agenda is opposing cycling infrastructure. Thankfully they’re not a majority, but it is odd because almost all transportation infrastructure funding goes to roads, but somehow any support to bikes are the problem. What is it about bikes that cause so much anger?
