AOSP is not just Google. It can be forked by Samsung, for example. AOSP is not GNU. It has a Linux kernel, but heavily modified.
Google still provides the best hardware for running AOSP. I'm happy with that, and don't care about noobs using Google Android for its AI stuff. I will run AOSP instead without fancy features.
