Collecting books and reading them are two different hobbies. Interrelated yes.

Never heard of book collectors before, it’s just an idea I’ve had lingering for the longest

i guess i was more thinking about the “how rare of a collection of books they have in a library”

Rare is just a descriptor of certain book collections.
