Venerable John lived as a hermit in a cave near the Prislop Monastery in Romania. He was a silent monk known for his deep faith and devotion. One day, while praying, he foresaw the Tatar invasion. He left his hermitage to warn the nearby villagers, urging them to seek refuge in the mountains. He helped them escape, then returned to his cave, where he was martyred by the Tatars. His body was later found incorrupt, and he was recognized as a saint.
