Why 33 years?
Because it aligns with the prophesy in Daniel 9:24-27 that the Messiah would die at that time, 483 years after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem in 457 BC
That prophesy was some 600 years before Jesus

And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”
