Update, Manly. P. Hall makes a bit more sense to me now I've read this and is back on my reading list. When I look at occult studies I always first ask, what are the authors beliefs, is it a 'man centred' or 'god centred' approach. This is about setting my intention & keeping myself safe from accidentally believing in the wrong thing, as our ancestors did before us! Oh isn't the material world fun! . One of my favourite thought experiments is sorting things into two groups man created & god created. For example, a theory is; the created energy we get to make really cool stuff, comes from the demiurge, furthermore, God/Allah created the demiurge, so therefore whatever is man made ultimately comes from the God 'Universal mind', divine consciousness or whatever words you choose. In conclusion, the gnostic demiurge is not a separate lower God, the demiurge was created by God. I like the idea of the demiurge being the 'Adam' figure in the story, essentially representing man. 'Free will' is an illusion. There is only God's will, the one all seeing & knowing true God. Now, I digress back to Manly. P. Hall, where does he stand on Magic for personal gain though? Because this would be considered as 'low magic' by some. https://groups.io/g/waldorf-critics/topic/the_jew_does_not_fit_in/59730337#

"...For Satan is not a black God but the negation of God. The devil is the personification of atheism or idolatry. For the initiates this is not a person but a force created for good but which may serve for evil, it is the instrument of liberty & freewill.." Albert Pike
