Give the Iris client a try. It filters your global feed based on follow distance, so it cuts out a lot of spam. The few spammy npubs that get through I just add to my blocklist.

Iβve tried but it just doesnβt sit well with me whenever I use it thereβs always an inconvenience, example I was looking for my oldest note posted to #Nostrmemes and it wouldnβt go as far back as I wanted to but Damus on the other had did go all the way back to 2/15
You have a different list of default relays in Iris and Damus. If you posted a note on Damus, it might not show up on Iris unless you change your relay list.
Tip: add wss://nostr.mutinywallet.com to all of your relay lists. It's a write-only relay that will forward your events out to every known relay that will accept them, over 100. If you publish notes that way you'll always see them in every client and so will your followers.
