Unfortunately no fireplace ☹️ but I did figure out what is wrong with the aircon. The fans in the outdoor unit were jammed against the case causing them to stop spinning because the bracket that holds them in place has rusted.. I did a dodgy diy repair job putting a couple of pieces of wood under the bracket to lift the fans back into position so they spin again.. Hopefully that works well enough to keep me warm until I can get it fixed properly!
