My big takeaway and question from the Olympics - when did everyone decide to start wearing lanyards/credentials cross-body? Is that a European thing?

I'm from The UK (We have very little by way of style) and while not lanyards there is a new "fad" of men, yes, men, wearing "manbags" in this very fashion🤷🏻‍♂️😂.
