Of course there are no “exemptions with parental consent” - parents can’t exempt children from legislation.

That part is obvious.

The real meat in this clip of #AUStriches PM explaining their ban for under 16s on social media is him explaining that the Government are the ones who decide what is acceptable for children, not parents.

Parents hate nothing more than being told by someone else, completely unsolicited, how they should parent their children.

What a tone deaf 🤡 https://v.nostr.build/tbKfVuvlkJQfniJZ.mp4 nostr:note1ry4u796mc73atr0ya7kh6v09u39dlaz9t3e6kde6cgv853s6xt7sxdm9qj

Parents don’t like being told how to raise their children but I think a lot will either just whinge about it or work around it by creating accounts using their own id. I think there are also a lot of parents that don’t want their kids on social media but don’t want to take responsibility themselves and those will actually support this shit..

It would be good to have a kid friendly Nostr client that actually gives the controls to parents to allow them to make their own choices about what their kids are seeing/doing but I’m not sure how achievable that is.

Teens will just get around it, parents need to be more proactive and more aware.

They're not even trying to hide it anymore... They can shove their digital ID 🍑
