I'm willing to DIY when it comes to Linux, honestly. I understand, however, that some issues are weird, or seemingly unfixable.
I've been using Linux at home almost exclusively since 1998 and I can honestly say that it's several ordered of magnitude easier to use today than it was, then. Device drivers were either non existent or had to be compiled from code.
