Daniel Jay Millman is an American author and lecturer in the field of personal development. He is best-known for the movie Peaceful Warrior, which is based on his own life and taken from one of his books. The first edition of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, a fictionalized memoir, explored the physical and mental challenges Mr. Millman faced in his early life and the spiritual growth he experienced. The catalyst of his spiritual journey was an all-night gas station attendant who became his mentor. Mr. Millman gave his enlightened counselor the soubriquet “Socrates”. The quotation above was spoken by the modern fictionalized character and not the ancient Socrates.
