For Signal you should try Molly, a great fork of Signal
I decided months ago, when I started using it here - to leave all the other networks in which I was actively part. Now, I’m also trying not to use WhatsApp anymore! The idea is to find a tool that I can explain to my family that works just as well and they can find me in it. Therefore, it excludes two apps from the test list: WhatsApp (obviously) and telegram. These don’t interest me anymore.

Molly needs a passphrase as a measure of security and it can be used with orbot as a proxy.
