I had a realization today about the concept of the 8 forms of capital. Based on this realization, I'm going to start calling the concept the 9 forms of capital from here on out. For as long as I've been talking about the concept I've always suggested there is a 9th form of capital which I call vital capital (mental and physical well-being) but was never sure if it actually fit. Now I'm sure that it belongs and here's why.

With 9 forms of capital, three equal groups can be created, I'm calling super forms of capital. The first group is capital utilized in the physical/material world: Financial, Material, and Natural capital. The second group is the capital utilized from oneself: Intellectual, Experiencial and Vital capital. And finally the third group is capital utilized from ones relationships: Social, Cultural and Spiritual.

Adding the 9th for in vital capital creates a nice balance to the concept and now capital can also be considered more broadly in "super" forms: Physical capital, Personal capital, and Relational capital. I think starting off describing the concept from the context of super forms of capital on down to very specific forms will help to solidify the understanding and better utilization of the concept.
