Shouldn't forks of Bitcoin be literal forks? You just run different, but compatible software? Like why does it even matter if it gets merged into core? Why aren't there a dozen Cores out there for different flavors of Bitcoin degen?

I always ask myself that too 🤷‍♂️

Precisely. I'd love to see core, lite and heavy. Then let the node runners decide the filtering by freely choosing what form to run.

That is precisely the spirit. Just for comparison, Bible has a code that is printed by several kind of people including authoritarian ones!

I mean, why deal with managing the interoperability of multiple different divergent blockchains? We could just start an entirely *new* blockchain and make it run smart contracts. We'll call it Ethereum, it'll be great.
