i was wondering where the name canary came from... here in madeira, there is a large urban area to the west of the main centre of funchal called "camara de lobos" which supposedly has something to do with sea lions but if you translate it from portuguese it's "chamber of the wolves"

people who live on these atlantic islands are well known for thousands of years for their dogs

the name of that suburb or town or whatever you call it for me brings to mind a very common feature you find in many residences on madeira - a large cage that a dog is kept in, usually never let out and not really socialised at all

yes, canary comes from "canis" as in dogs

also, kinda cool, there is a comic book character called "lobo" which means wolf in portuguese, who is always saying "frag"

#madeira #canary #wolves

Are you still in madeira, sir?

yes, not planning on moving any time soon, except to my little goat ranch high in the mountains here

Can I get a donkey ranch in the mountains here?

probably, i know there's horses around probably someone has some donkeys, there is actually even a few cattle farms, there's not much land flat enough for them

there's a lot of albino and white breeds of everything here, i met this albino horse, they called her safira because of her bright blue eyes, but you will also see cats, dogs, pigeons, goats, sheep, all with the weird blue or two colour eyes

I definitely want a albino donkey

yeah, idk what it's all about tbh... it's kinda spooky for me just to connect it to the atlantis stories and the white (not albino) mutation - there is a difference between albino and white, and all the old stories kinda hint at the idea that the atlanteans where white - usually red or blond haired, and likely just coincidental due to the same supernova event that coincided with the appearance of the white/red/blonde mutation in humans quite likely also affected and appeared in many of our domesticated and pet animals, and was probably preserved when it was found due to its rarity

hah i'm no white supremacist but although not directly related lactose tolerance and white/red/blonde mutation appeared at the same time and there is loads of texts you can find from ancient times that hint at the idea, all over the place, not just europe, africa, asia, americas, about a race of people who were white... the irish called them "tuatha de danaan" or "aes dana" "the tribe of the bright/white people", the nordics talked about alfheimr, many mythologies have this in them

We're hanging in the island till Monday, dm us for stickers ;)
