Social media for a lot of people in 2023 is binge consuming 90 minutes of tik tok content a day. Put the trash content and creators aside. Does nostr, or for that matter any entry into the decentralized media space, offer these people, if not an alternative, something, or a pitch on why that’s not as good. Idk.

It's possible the zombies who stare at TikTok videos could find a way to get addicted to zaps or being zapped

the pitch is there for creators, don’t rely on a creator fund that shrinks as more creators join you.

But for this very sizable audience, even the YouTube home page is too much work. they have regressed to essentially channel flipping.

I’m pretty anti algorithm, which is where I find myself at a stand still.

I could imagine a autogenerated feed (maybe there are curators instead of algorithms) where this audience funds a wallet and sats just fly out over time as they flip the channels, the way podcasting 2.0 works with Payment Intervals. I think the lack of discussion around this is, do we really want to become this new audiences dealers of lowest common denominator content, and the answer to that is probably no. If curators are involved, I’m sure there would be attempts at raising the bar, but you do just set up the incentive for curators to play algorithm and just package up the worst common denominator, and probably running a whole agency of repost accounts to take all the sats for themselves.
