#Venus is the nearest planet to us. It's about the same mass, radius, density as #Earth.

It has a surface temperature about 470°C (900°F), largely due to high levels of CO² acting as a planetary scale greenhouse.

What if... Earth was our backup planet, and we initially started on Venus? Maybe we sent enough people to Earth before wiping out Venus.

Now, here we are, thinking of #Mars as being a backup planet...

Maybe. But what I do know is, Venus is a much more desirable target for terraforming than Mars is. Probably easier, too - I suspect its easier to do something with an excess of energy than a deficit.
