Nostr Talks with #[0] on Coracle.social

Hodlbod was so early to building in this space that he almost built a competing social media protocol, but once he found Nostr he decided it was sufficient for his needs. So instead he built one of the first big Nostr clients called Coracle. He’s excited about pushing the art forward on building for community and messaging use-cases and is “going all-in” on building on Nostr.

private relays stripping signatures to prevent rebroadcasting to other relays 🤔

What’s that about?

It's probably a bad idea, but the best I've been able to come up with so far

Private relays would be great for companies, not for work necessarily, but maybe to share kudos and Zap each other.

I dream. We are a long way from there.

a possible private group chat over nostr using a private relay

🤙 def going to check this out dk

thanks for watching! let me know what you think. i’m here to discuss these ideas 🤙

This was an awesome interview, thanks for doing it guys!

I ended up researching FUTO's Polycentric (https://polycentric.io/) after watching, which is really cool project and weirdly similar to my own distributed protocol project called Bogbook (https://bogbook.com/) in a lot of ways. I guess these social media protocols are both post-Scuttlebot, so that'd explain some of the similarities.

I found this interview between Louis Rossmann and Harpo Roeder that I'm watching right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld87FNygymw

Is post-scuttlebutt a new music genre?

I do love how ssb inspired so many new ideas, they are the real heroes here.

I kind of imagined post-scuttlebutt was Dominic Tarr's fascinating Youtube channel where he rescues a boat from the woods and tries to keep it from sinking: https://www.youtube.com/@dominictarrsailing

But perhaps it'd be a great music genre as well.

Oh, I went an applied to FUTO's fellowship just for the heck of it. Who knows, maybe they'll email back!
