Pediatricians office is changing from working with each individual patient and caring for their specific needs to mandating all vaccines and treating patients by policy. They state, “We believe in honest and transparent care by establishing clear policies rather than having a discussion or divergence in care parameters we have established”. Blanket care is note care. Period.
Doctors must also really suck as math. Here’s why I say that:
There were 859 cases of polio last year (which was a higher year than normal). That means odds of getting polio is 1 in ~9,000,000. If you are extremely unlucky, you have a 1% experiencing severe symptoms (per the “experts”). In other words, you have a 1 in ~900,000,000 chance of getting and experience severe symptoms from Polio.
The reported odds (per the “experts”) that there is a severe reaction from IPV (polio) vaccine is 1 in ~500,000.
I choose to have my kids receive certain vaccines, but not all of them, and not all when they are extremely young. That seems very reasonable and many doctors seem to agree. Apparently, not this pediatrician. So I am current looking for a new pediatrician who will use logic and allow for more nuances care.
