I agree, that Firefox looses 90% of its funding, when Chromium and Google are separated.

Would it be any different for Chromium though?

And it is not as if there would be others. It is currently Gecko engine or chromiums Blink engine, that support all major Operatingsystems. And with Tor-Browser and its Fork Mullvad-Browser based on Firefox, this gives the highest privacy and anonymity credibility when choosing between the two engines.

What good would it bring to the internet, when Firefox would loose all users and funding? What exactly is the goal of such bashing articles?

Is it an urge to more investment into opensource development or is it as I see it a direct attack against Firefox and Free software in general?

If they lose google's funding maybe is a good thing. Less resources to waste on politics and full focus on the browser and maybe thunderbird. I would like to see a more technically focused Mozilla, leading the browser landscape instead of being a follower.

Even with today's challenges, Firefox is a great browser, supporting great projects and nothing in this article makes me want to switch.
